Baking is Art!
This flourless cake made of chocolate with ground almonds instead of flour is perfect to enjoy with family and friends in the garden or just for the coffee break, it is easy to make, elegant, rich and you will love its intense chocolate flavor.
130 g butter
170 g dark Chocolate
4 Large eggs (separated)
110 g sugar
170 g ground almond
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Chocolate easter eggs (for decoration)
Slivered Almonds (for decoration)
1.- Preheat the oven to 180 °C / 350°F
2.- Melt the butter and the chocolate in the microwave or au bain-marie, mix well.
3.- In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and the sugar, add the chocolate mixture, stir until completely combined.
Add the ground almond, the salt and baking powder. mix until well combined.
4.- In another bowl, mix the eggs whites to stiff peaks, adding the vanilla essence at the end, fold them into the mixture and mix well.
5.- Butter a cake tin and dust with flour. Pour in the dough and bake in the oven for 40 minutes. Check if the cake is cooked by pricking the center with the tip of a knife: it should come out clean. let the cake cool down.
6.- Dust the cake with the cocoa powder and decorate with the slivered almonds and chocolate eggs.
